Introduction:
This project is designed to comply with the Illinois Common Core learning standards as well as delve into cultural past of our region. The students, working in groups, will create a website detailing our local history and historical sites. As this is an online project, at least one of the students in each group will have to have access to a personal email account.

Grades 6-8 - R.H. 1-2, 4, 6-9; W.HST 1-1e, 2a-2f, 4-10

ISTE Standards:

Directions:
You will research Native Americans in southern Illinois. You will have to research and provide information for one of the following topics:
  • Mound Builder & Mississippian culture at Cahokia
  • Kaskaskia Tribe in southern Illinois
  • Shawnee Tribe in southern Illinois
  • The Illiniwek Confederation
  • The Trail of Tears in southern Illinois

You will take your research and create a website dealing with your chosen topic. You will create your website using Weebly.com. You and your group will work together to provide information and graphics about your topic, following copyright and fair use guidelines, citing all resources and graphics. The website you create should tell the story of your topic in a way that will be able to be understood by those who have not studied the topic. Try to find and incorporate primary source materials into your research and narrative.
You will also have to follow the guidelines detailed in the grading rubric. You may work on this at school and home as time allows but, all of the people in your group should be allowed to make a part of the website. Upon completion of the website, it will be published and the web address must be emailed to Mr. Banks, to be shared with the rest of the class.
